Vietnam waste sector seeks for solutions from Finnish technology suppliersvietnam msw wte solid-waste-management
The central government of Vietnam has stressed in the recent development master plan that landfill of municipal solid waste must be reduced by 80% by 2025. This forces the cities to take action now to improve the situation by upgrading their waste policy.
Ho Chi Minh City has called for solutions to treat a new MSW treatment complex at a site about 50km from city center, in which 1,000 tons/day out of over 8,000 tons/day of city's MSW will be used to generate electricity. There will be two more projects to follow (i.e. one project of 1,000 tons/day and one project of 2,000 tons/day) to be put into operation by 2030. Besides, there are many other smaller WtE projects (around 50-100tons/day) in surrounding HCM City areas can be used for trial purpose and, if successful, for piloting. Projects in other cities will follow, e.g. in Hanoi the problem is acute as well, the city generates municipal solid waste in the amount of 7,000 t/d.
Finnish solutions in waste-to-energy are known as leading globally. Offering of the competitors' already revealed imperfect features. This makes the expertise of Finnish companies and offering in solid waste management and W2E even more competitive and interesting for potential project owners and local authorities.

Business Finland and especially W2E&B Program has been promoting Finnish offering in W2E in Vietnam for some time already. The effort continues this autumn. After the EEP Mekong delegation to Finland in September, in October 15-19th the delegation led by Mr. Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland will be visiting Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with representatives of Finnish business community.
Finnish companies interested in Vietnamese waste and W2E market are warmly invited to join the business delegation. This is a very good chance to directly check the opportunities, create the relationships and network with potential customers and partners. Program for companies covers meetings in both HCM and Hanoi.
