Port of Tacoma is the 5th busiest port in the United States. Port of Tacoma makes strategic investments in harbor and community. They have worked aggressively toward installing shore power infrastructure on marine terminals for connecting container ships. Tacoma port is developing shore power, infrastructure on shore, connectivity and telecom networks, battery technology, new marine fuels such as wind and solar power based methanol and ammonia and autonomous and electric vessels. Tacoma has an ambitious project portfolio for years 2021-2025. The Port of Tacoma has three major business areas: container shipping terminals, breakbulk and bulk terminals, and real estate. Port projects are designed to create new economic opportunities in these business areas, preserve and enhance environment, and to maintain the facilities and infrastructure. Washington Maritime Blue is a cluster cooperating with Tacoma port committed to the development of maritime business, technology, and practices that promote a sustainable future contributing to economic growth, ecological health, and thriving communities.
